Location: 15 miles south of Raton, NM on Interstate 25 to Maxwell, New Mexico, thence Northeast from Maxwell 7 miles +/- to the ranch on Colfax County Road 8A.
This ranch is located on top of the world in northeastern New Mexico in one of the most sought after areas in the Continental USA to live and run livestock. It is just a short drive from the ranch to all sorts of recreation including skiing, lakes for fishing and boating and all types of other mountain recreation. Wildlife on the ranch consists of deer, antelope, quail and other fauna.
Improvements on the ranch consists of four and five strand barbed wire fencing which has just been gone through providing way above average fencing for the area with water for livestock and wildlife being provided as follows: A well 25 feet deep equipped with a solar powered submersible electric motor and pump, pumping water into two 10,000 gallon storage tanks providing water for approximately one mile of pipeline on which there are two 25 drinkers (stock tanks). This well is not currently in use due to the drilling of a new well to produce water for the two storage tanks and the pipeline.
A new well located in the southern part of the ranch has just been drilled approximately 600 deep with a static water level of 160, the well is equipped with a 5 panel solar powered electric motor and pump, is tied into the two 10,000 gallon storage tanks mentioned above with underground pipe and is located approximately 172 from the existing storage tanks and the pipeline system to provide water for the two storage tanks and the pipeline.
A new well located in the northern part of the ranch has just been drilled approximately 420 deep with a static water level of 120, the well is equipped with a three panel solar powered submersible electric motor and pump and is tied into a 10,000 gallon storage tank with one mile of new pipeline running one half mile each way from the new well with 25 drinkers (stock tanks) on each end of the two pipelines.
A new large capacity spreader dam has just been built on an arroyo located in the southeastern portion of the ranch and two wet weather earthen dams (dirt tanks) which have just been cleaned out will also provide water for livestock and wildlife when filled by rain and snowfall. All wells and earthen dams (dirt tanks) are located strategically throughout the ranch providing an excellent livestock and wildlife watering system.
Grama is the predominate grass on the ranch combined with rolling hills will hopefully provide adequate winter protection for livestock from snow and wind in the winter months. This will be a very productive ranch for the new owner which should provide plentiful grazing, located in the heart of a truly beautiful area of New Mexico. Give us a call to discuss this ranch in further detail and arrange for you to be shown the ranch at your discretion.
